We all have times and places we want remembered and many of us think about writing them down. Most do not. Frequently, the most difficult part of writing is getting started. In addition to putting into words the memories and thoughts you want to preserve or share, I act as the catalyst to get the process under way and help draw the story out.
Process
Consultation
We meet in-person, over the phone or virtually to discuss the story you'd like to tell and your goals for working with me. I also provide you with answers to any questions you may have and create an estimate for the project. We then schedule the interview and get started.
Interview
Once you have identified your topic or range of topics, you share your thoughts or stories with me in the location of your choosing. More often than not I meet with clients in person, but as with the initial consultation we can meet at your kitchen table, a coffee shop, by phone or virtually. Depending upon the project, this can be accomplished in one meeting or several.
Some clients prefer to meet for an hour or two, have me work on the story for a period of time, then meet again and continue in this manner until the project is finished. Others prefer the more formal process outlined below.
Draft Creation, Review and Edits
Following the interview, I will take the story and information you prepared and create a draft for you to review. You can provide any edits or modifications needed as well as any additional thoughts that have come to mind since our first conversation. I then prepare the final copy for you.
Product
Your thoughts and stories can be presented in a number of different forms. Some people like to present them in the form of letters, others as essays or dialogue for photos or objects. The format can be anything you’d like.
Upon completion, you will receive two printed copies of your story along with an electronic copy stored on a USB Flash Drive. If you prefer something else, let me know. Below are additional services available for presenting your story.

Incorporation of Photographs Into the Finished Text
Photographs provided can be placed throughout the text to illustrate your story.
Binding and Book Creation
Finished stories are provided to you in spiral comb binding. If desired, there are many other options available to you including spiral, thermal, book binding and others as well as a variety of paper types and weights.
Photo Scanning
Photographs provided are digitally scanned to a USB Flash Drive and any you choose incorporated into the text. Upon completion, this drive will be provided to you.
